Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of FeCl3 on the microbial activity of the sludge leachate. The investigation was carried out using the wastewater collected from the treatment plant (D-city) and compared with waste water treatment plant(K-city) MLSS, which doesn't use FeCl3. The average Fe(T) concentration was found to be 685.95 mg/L in the sludge change collected from the D-city plant. However, a very low Fe concentration of 1.92 mg/L and 0.48 mg/L was identified in the bioreactor and treated water, respectively. Similarly, the Cl- concentration was also determined and was 2.249.77, 68.48, 80.50 mg/L, for sludge leachate, bioreactor and treated water, respectively. The collected waster water from the K-city was divided into sewage and waster water and our studies showed that the DO consents in both systems reduced within 18 minutes. When the Fe was introduced in the concentration range from 1, 2 and 10 mg/L, the DO reduced in 20 minutes, whereas it is 26 minutes, in the presence of Cl- ions in the concentration range from 20, 40 and 160 mg/L, in an individual, ideal cases. However, when the Fe and Cl- ions are added together in the concentration range from {Fe 2 mg/L + Cl- 40 mg/L}, {Fe 5 mg/L + Cl- 160 mg/L}, the DO content reduces in 22 minutes. When observing all the studies, we identified that Fe and Cl- has no significant impact on the microbial activity in the bioreactor.
