| Abstract |
| Rivers interact with people in many ways and affect to their lives. Especially urban river has undergone many changes and now they are playing an important role as leisure and relax space in the metropolitan cities. More than half of the river in Incheon are located in urban area and have undergone many changes such as concrete covering and river section changes. Seunggi-river, which is the main example area of this study, is one of the main urban river in Incheon and has experienced lots of changes including concrete covering and partial removal of covered section, ecological restoration and development of waterfront space. For these reasons, the research on change and management method in urban river conducted based on case of Seunggi-river. Current problems of urban river are lack of long-term perspective, insufficient follow-up managing method after restoration project, absence of connected and integrated method and inability to supporting multiuse of urban river. According to this study, improvement scheme for river management methods are suggested with roles and responsibility of each participants, especially for the governance. As a result, necessity of new Incheon river master plan for urban rivers in Incheon was proposed to make effective and reasonable river management possible, and conducted a study about expected effects of improvement schemes as well. |
