Abstract
ATP bioluminescence method is recommended to be one of simple and rapid analysis techniques for microbial monitoring. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of ATP bioluminescence method for microbial monitoring and disinfection inactivation. Two different commercial ATP bioluminescence assays were compared with heterotropic plate counts(HPC) method for microbial in rainwater tank. For disinfection performance evaluation, experiments were carried out using E.coli culture. ATP bioluminescence assay and HPC method showed a significant correlation. These results showed that ATP bioluminescence gives more reliable tool for microbial monitoring. But, there are no clear correlation between inactivation of disinfection(UV, chlorination) and ATP content of the cells.
