Title
A Development of Up Flow Filtering System for Non-point Source Pollutions
정호진 Hojin Chung
Abstract
The Ministry of Environment recognizes the seriousness of non-point pollution and enacts management regulations for reducing pollution sources. The regulations provide that SS removal efficiency should be more than 80% based on the initial rainfall water concentration of 150~350 ppm and backwashing should be performed in order to remove the solid matter collected in the filter media, which should be washed with air + water. Therefore, this study developed a new filtration system that can cope with the intensive rainfall in the urban area and minimize the problems in the filtration type treatment facility. The filter layer should be filled more than 50 cm. It is necessary to increase the number of carriers by reducing the size of the filter media in order to increase the filtration line speed effect. The optimum number of backwashing cycles was 6, and the air washings required about 18 minutes and the backwashing water needs for 9.36 m3. In this experiment, the head loss was hardly generated by using the fluid carrier media. The results of the non-point pollution reduce system satisfied the regulations of the Ministry of Environment. However, securing several emerging problems will enable us to develop a more economical filtration system.
