Title
Treatment Characteristics of Upflow Biofilter Using Soil Microorganisms
조용현 Yonghyun Cho
Abstract
An increase in domestic sewage and industrial wastewater causes water pollution in Korea. To solve these problems, many wastewater treatment plants have been constructed and operated by using biofilter process. Therefore, the study was to invest which factors could improve the removal efficiencies of SS, organic materials and T-N using soil microorganism. The optimum EBCT was 40 min and the removal efficiency of biofilter 2 was more stable than biofilter 1. In that process, biofilter 2(EBCT 40 min) removal efficiency of SS, CODMn, turbidity, color, NH4 +-N were 82.98 %, 32.34 %, 80.35 %, 25.34 %, 52.47 %, respectively. And also in an experiment using soil microorganism, the removal efficiency of CODMn ranged from 42.4% to 49.5%. The CODMn removal efficiency are improved as 12.34% for biofilter 2 more than biofilter 1. In particular, the removal efficiency of NH4 +-N ranged from 78.7% to 84.9%. The NH4 +-N removal efficiency are improved as 27.51% for biofilter 2 more than biofilter 1 in EBCT 40 min.
