Title
Decolorization of Disperse red 17 and Growth Characteristics of The Isolated Strains in Biological Treatment
한명호 Myung-ho Han
Abstract
In order to decolorize Disperse red 17(disperse dye), growth characteristics of the isolated strains were investigated in biological treatment process. The optimal culture conditions of water temperature and pH for isolated strains were found to be 40℃ and 8.5~9, respectively. When yeast extract was mixed with polypeptone at the mixing ratio of 1:1 as a nitrogen source, decolorization efficiency was 93%. MgSO₄·7H₂O was needed 0.1%(w/v) for the optimal culture condition as a essential inorganic element for cell growth and cell synthesis, and decolorization efficiency was 96%. KH₂PO₄ was needed 0.2%(w/v) for the optimal culture condition as a macro-nutrient minerals of potassium(K) and phosphorous(P), and decolorization efficiency was 92%. The isolated strains screened were excellent to adapting pH, and it seems to have ability to control pH for cell growth. Continuous plant test for the wastewater of Daegu dyeing complex was carried out. The removal efficiency of COD_{Mn} was 50% and over, and it was found that the isolated strains were excellent in decolorization for the treatment of dying wastewater.
