Title
Application of Mg-Sericite Flocculant for Brewery Wastewater Treatment
최희정 Hee Jeong Choi
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the nutrient removal using modified Mg-Sericite flocculant in the brewery wastewater. Mg-Sericite flocculant removed successfully 98-100% of the nutrient in the brewery wastewater at the following optimal Mg-Sericite dosage: 30 mg/L for turbidity and SS, 100 mg/L for COD, 50 mg/L for BOD, 35 mg/L for TN, 20 mg/L for NH4-N, 15 mg/L for TP and 18 mg/L for PO4-P at pH 9. These results was indicated that the 1 mg/L Mg-Sericite removed 0.58 mg/L, 0.46 mg/L, 0.36 mg/L and 0.25 mg/L for TN, NH4-N, TP and PO4-P, respectively. The biopolymer, Mg-Sericite, can be a promising flocculant due to its high efficiency and low dose requirements. In addition, Mg-Sericite can be recycled to reduce not only the cost and the demand for water but also the extra operational costs for reusing wastewater.
