A Study on the Estimation of Emergency Water Demand in Drinking Water Supply Systems

Abstract
In order to a basic information for estimating an emergency drinking water supply, literature review, case study by domestic and overseas and questionnaires are performed. Water supply system need to prepare emergency water supply plan to avoid water service interruption and to reduce damage by disaster, infrastructure failure, water pollution. There are several options for supplying potable water in an emergency. These include water supplied via interconnections with neighboring water utilities, bottled water, distributing reservoir, emergency water supply equipments, water storage tank. Interruptions may be for only a short period of time. The minimum amount of water required in an emergency was identified on the basis of questionnaires and data. Water reservoirs are installed in order to ensure the volume of emergency water in the water supply system in the future.
