Title
The Adsorption Characteristics for Phosphorus Removal in Wastewater using Graphene Oxide
이호식 Ho Sik Lee , 이영진 Young Jin Lee
Abstract
This study examined the adsorption efficiency of graphene oxide (GO) for phosphorus removal in a wastewater treatment plant. GO was developed as a new material in the IT field. GO was produced by an oxidation process and separated from graphite. The material was then used as an adsorbent. GO adsorption experiments were performed by varying the PO4-P concentrations from 10 to 10,000 mg/L. At the same time, adsorption experiments were conducted by mixing iron ions with PO4-P. The Freundlich isotherm was applied to describe the equilibrium equation and the isotherm constants were determined. Based on the 1/n and K value of the Freundlich isotherm constants, the mixed liquors containing PO4-P and Fe ions showed better adsorption efficiency than that of either PO4-P or Fe ions. The effluent PO4-P concentration after the adsorption reaction using graphene oxide for wastewater under a 5 mg/L concentration, showed a continuous ND (non detectable) value.
