Title
Consideration of Water Quality Factors and Evaluation of Corrosion in Tap Water According to Phosphate Corrosion Inhibitor
황병기 Byung Gi Hwang , 우달식 Dal Sik Woo
Abstract
This study evaluated a change in major tap water quality factors, leaching concentrations of a heavy metal, and corrosion by injecting phosphate corrosion inhibitor. The injection of corrosion inhibitor led to no great impact on a change in corrosive tap water quality factors such as pH, electrical conductivity, alkalinity, and Ca hardness and to reduction in leaching and turbidity of metal, thereby having been excellent in corrosion control effect compared to a case without treatment of corrosion inhibitor. Tendency was shown that a rise in corrosion inhibitor concentration leads to the gradual reduction in Fe leaching concentration and corrosion until the concentration of injecting corrosion inhibitor is 5 mg-. The injection with more than 5 mg- led to reduction in 1.6~7.6 times, 24~30 times or so, respectively, compared to a case without the injection of corrosion inhibitor, thereby having been confirmed to be excellent in rust and corrosion control effect.
