Title
Development of Water Quality Stabilization Model using Numerical Analysis Method for Controlling Corrosivity
황병기 Byung Gi Hwang , 우달식 Dal Sik Woo
Abstract
A diagnostic evaluation model was developed for water quality stabilization. The model is capable of not only calculating saturation indices including Langelier Saturation Index, Ryznar Stability Index, Aggressive Index, and calcium carbonate precipitation potential, but also allows calculation of the effects of various conditioning chemicals for the water to be stabilized. The developed model was applied to evaluate water quality parameters of raw water for corrosion control. If the water is corrosive, the water quality change of the water can be predicted according to the amount of injection of stabilizing chemicals. When of 10 mg/L as a conditioning chemical is injected, the optimum condition for the interim water is satisfied and the water turns out to be non-corrosive. In case of using for corrosion control, more than 10 mg/L is necessary to satisfy the optimum water quality condition. Conclusively, the developed program can be used as a useful tool for the decision means of operators to determine an optimum dosage of injection to stabilize a water at water treatment plant.
