Abstract
The purposes of this research are to study on the feasibility of Hanji cellulosic fiber as water pollutant removal materials. The experiments were performed with two ways ; one was to determine the drying method of Hanji sheet in water swollen state, the other was to reform its surface chemically. For the removal of volatile organic carbons(VOCs), it was needed to be heat drying or natural drying. For the removal of heavy metals in water, the changes of functional group on the surface of cellulose fiber from hydroxyl groups to carboxyl groups were requested under neutral condition of pH. The removal efficiencies of VOCs were as low as about 30% and heavy metals were as high as about 98%.
