Title
Analysis of Water Quality and Flow Characteristics for Coastal Saline Groundwater
이병철 Byung Chul Lee , 최윤영 Yun Young Choi
Abstract
This study has simulated the changes in the capture section by groundwater flow and pumping in the coastal area of which hudrological analysis is difficult to conduct by using MODFLOW and MODPATH model. The optimal parameters of models were calculated by using the surveyed groundwater level in the observation well in the targeted area and based upon this the groundwater flow was analyzed. The results showed an error of about 10% from the groundwater head in the observation hole, indicating the conformance of the model. The groundwater head in the corresponding area was analyzed through a transient analysis. The results showed the maximum head of 1.128m on land and minimum head of 0.011m on the coast, showing flow vectors from west to east. The capture section was analyzed by applying the pumping capacity of 100,000m³/d in the tube well. The results showed when the pumping period lengthened, the capture section somewhat increased. Yet as the capture sections extends as far as the cost, the decline of water level due to the pumping capacity is extremely limited compared to the inland.
