Abstract
To reuse the aluminum contained P-sludge, which generated from the total phosphorus removal process of domestic wastewater treatment plant(PRDWT), the aluminum was extracted using sulfuric acid. And its removal rate for total phosphorus from influent of PRDWT was investigated. As expected, the main metallic element presented in P-sludge was aluminum. Which was about 190g/kg-sludge(dry wt). Also maximum aluminum recovery was using 3.6N sulfuric acid as extracting solution about 99% when the P-sludge: sulfuric acid solution ration was 1:2. The recovered aluminum solution contained aluminum and total phosphorus at higher than 15,000mg/L and 3,000mg/L, respectively. The recovered aluminum solution removed over 80% total phosphorus when the aluminum/phosphorus mole ratio was over 8. The results presented in this study provide a basis to develop prospects for beneficial reuse of P-sludge.
