Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analysis and find improvement of different treatment efficiency between upper and lower tray in the two-tray secondary clarifier at ``N`` wastewater treatment plant operating by Environmental Corporation of Incheon. The difference in the concentration of the BOD5 and COD(Mn) was not greater both at the upper and lower tray. But, the average size of the effluent particles was 30.69~65.68㎛(average 43.33 ㎛) at the upper tray and 24.35~57.87㎛ (average 34.08㎛). It was resulted that particle size from upper tray was bigger than from lower tray and treatment efficiency of SS and turbidity was lower in the upper tray. The cause of this phenomenon is inappropriate flow distribution and is due to inflow large amount of particles from activated sludge by pre-zone settling in the sludge distribution basin to upper tray. It was resulted that the best condition was in the case of 3:7 flow distribution ratio as flowing test of varied flow distribution in the both upper and lower tray. The agitation in the sludge distribution basin led constant sludge concentration and could improve sludge settling of upper tray.
