Title
A Study on The Removal Of Cyanide And Heavy Metals in Plating Wastewater
정호진 Ho Jin Chuang
Abstract
This study aims to clarify the characteristics of the factors that affect the electro-coagulation oxidation treatment of the plating wastewater containing cyanide, and to investigate the components of a new treatment system and operation mechanism which increase the removal efficiency. The electro-coagulation method is a new technology in which problems found in previous researches were complemented and also has a lower possibility of a secondary source of pollution. In the case of the electrode combination of electro-coagulation conducted in the laboratory, Aluminium(Al) was appropriate in anode, STS316L was appropriate in cathode. In the case of the electrode combination in electric oxidation, the best treatment efficiency of wastewater was gained when ruthenium oxide-titanium metal plate was used for anode, STS316L for cathode. In regards to the HRT, one of the important factors was 5 minutes, and the gab of electrodes was 10mm. The system was composed in two levels by incorporating coagulation and oxidation. The current density in electric oxidation was 80㎃/㎠. From the experimental results presented, when the electric oxidation system was applied in the treatment of plating waste water mixed with cyanide and heavy metals, safer and more stable treatment efficiency was obtained compared to the previous treatment methods. In addition, the discharged water could meet the criteria of discharged water.
