Title
Application of Sand Filtration Theory for Headloss Development Analysis in Biological Aerated Filter
현길수 Kil Soo Hyun
Abstract
The objective of this study was to investigate the application of sand filtration theory for headloss build-up analysis in biological aertaed filter (BAF) bed using real and synthetic wastewater. Applied packed bed depth with ceramic ball and filtration rate were 1m and 50-100 mid. Influent COD and SS concentration were in the range of 50-200 mg/L and 20-45 mg/L. As a result, the substrate residual ratio of the BAF decreased exponentionally with increasing time. Modified headloss equation introduced a specific deposit considering air bubble and solids(particle and biomass) and corrected coefficient of head loss into the sand filtration equation proved to be applied for the analysis of headloss development in the BAF bed.
