이종집 Jong Jib Lee , 엄명헌 Myeong Heon Um
Abstract
In this study, the adsorption characteristics of granular activated carbon has been investigated for the adsorption of malachite green from aqueous solution in the batch adsorber and the packed column. The effects of initial dye concentration, contact time, pH and temperature on adsorption of malachite green by a fixed amount of activated carbon have been studied. The effects of various parameters such as solution pH (3-10), granular activated carbon dose (50-500 mg) and initial malachite green concentration (100 mg/L) were investigated. The adsorption equilibrium data are successfully fitted to the Freundlich isotherm equation in the temperature range from 298 to 318 K and initial concentration, 100mg/L, The estimated values of Freundlich parameter, 13 are between 0.283 to 0.363 and it was found that adsorption treatment of malachite green by activated carbon was effective process, The mechanism of the adsorption process was determined from the intraparticle diffusion model. The effects of the operation conditions of the packed column on the breakthrough curve were investigated. When the initial concentration and inlet flow rate of malachite green are increased, the corresponding breaktime appears to decrease. And, breaktime increased with increasing bed height, length of adsorption zone showed similar patterns.
