Abstract
This research has been performed to study electrochemical treatment of cyanide and ammonia in phenolic wastewater. The particular advantages of electrochemical treatment include high efficiency, ambient operating conditions, small equipment sizes, minimal sludge generation. Organic compounds and ammonia were removed through electrochemical treatment. The experiments were performed insight the effect NaCl concentration and phenol concentration change on organic compounds and ammonia decomposition efficiency. Cyanide and ammonia prefer indirect oxidation over direct oxidation, and that the selectivity of electrochemical oxidation for cyanide was higher than for ammonia. The results in this study suggested that Electrochemical oxidation was capable of removing cyanide, ammonia and organic compounds from industrial wastewater.
