Abstract
Today, urban watersheds becomes significantly smaller, as the repair and flow function of the earth surface before urbanization is coated by artificial structures, owing to the expansion of towns by continuing urbanization and industrialization with high growth of economy, and thereby all sorts of social overhead capital development. Moreover, according to the physiographic features of urban watersheds. fast flow and run-off capacity increase owing to the growth of impervious surfaces and the decline of detention pond caused by urban development, and fast drainage through sewer, and lag and peak times are faster than natural watersheds. This study investigated the sensitivity of SWMM model in order to find the utilization of urban runoff models for urban flood forecasting. The result of the study is as follows. The study analyzed sensitivity of 4 items, such as the conducted roughness coefficient for impervious area and permeability one, and the surface storage of impervious area and permeability one, and as a result, there is few sensitivity in the surface storage of impervious area and permeability one, thus the change of peak runoff discharge depending on parameters is not high. It is expected that much more measurement data is collected in future, and optimizing parameters and then simulating from a variety of rainfall events will be able to be pragmatically used in the utilization of urban runoff model for urban flood forecasting.
