Abstract
This research aims to investigate the characterization of variability of sludge generated water purification plant for adsorption of total phosphorus from effluent of municipal sewage treatment plant. Batch adsorption test was conducted using air dried sludges, which were collected from water purification plant monthly for a year. A maximum adsorption capacity of 5.56mg T -Pig sludge was obtained at winter season(December) and a minimum adsorption capacity (3.16mg T -Pig sludge) was obtained at summer season(July). At winter season. the contents of aluminium and organic matters in the sludge were highly detected than other seasons and the lowest content was at the summer season(July). The experimental results revealed that phosphorus adsorption differed depending on content of aluminium and organic matter in sludge.
