Title
Performance of Granular Sludge SBR/MF Processes on Treatment of Wastewater with High Organic Concentration
김지연 Ji Yeon Kim , 현길수 Kil Soo Hyun
Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of substrate reduction and transmembrane pressure (TMP) of granular sludge sequencing batch reactor (GS-SBR) coupled with menbrane filteration (MF) using synthetic and real blended wastewater (SWW and RBWW) and evaluate the comparative performance of GS-SBR/MF and granular activated carbon (GAC) filter/MF processes on the reclamation and reuse of wastewater. As a result, the performance of GS-SBR/MF process using SWW and RBWW showed significant substrate reduction during a month, whereas TMP for RBWW was higher than the one for SWW. This resulted in the clogging of the membrane pore due to the increase of particular matter and extrocellular polymer sustance (EPS) in real wastewater. This result suggests that the sludge granulation in SBR considering the reduction of particluar matter and EPS is needed to decrease TMP of membrane after GS-SBR.
