Abstract |
The key enzyme of methanotrophs, methane monooxygenase(MMO), especially the soluble MMO(sMMO), is remarkable in its broad substrate specificity. Soluble methane monooxygenasee(sMMO) can degrade many chlorinated and aromatic polluants. For this reason, methanotrophic bioreactors with high sMMO activities should be developed to treat these pollutants. Therefore, In this study, production characteristics of soluble methane monooxygenase during growth of methanotrophs in Methylomonas was Investigated. sMMO in methanotrophs of Methylomonas genus is present depending on the copper concentration in the medium, produced only in medium without copper ion. The optimum condition for the production of sMMO was 20:10 methane/Oxygen percent volume ratio. Ammonium salt clearly inhibited the activity of sMMO, but addition of formate the ammonia inhibition action considerable decreased. Also, It was concluded that methanol can be employed to produce methanotrophs in Methylomonas genus containing sMMO. |
