Title
Decolorization of Dye Wastewater by Adsorption and Oxidation Processes
정호진 Ho Jin Chung , 신승우 Seung Woo Shin
Abstract
This research was designed to find an effective way to decolorize the dye industry effluents through experiments with activated carbon and ozones. The results obtained are as follows: The optimum dosage for PAC adsorption appeared to be 1.5g/ℓ, and the color adsorption process was most stable at an acidic level of pH 5. The agitation intensity was shown to be most stable and efficient at 45 rpm. Decolorization rate of the ozone oxidation process increased as the pH level increased, but the removal efficiency was small depending on the amount of ozone added. The removal efficiency was 86.7% when the amount of ozone added was 1 mg/ℓ and a pH of 11 over a period of 30 minutes. The decolorization rate reached its highest level when both the processes of ozonation and the PAC adsorption were combined together. This combination was also favorable for maintaining stability, and was economically efficient as well.
