Abstract
To upgrade the efficiency of advanced treatments in a medium/small size wastewater treatment utilities and explore a reliable way coping with in emergency for the keeping a water quality when a biological action in wastewater treatment process has not worked properly, the treatment efficiencies on the wastewater by coagulation which is one of well-known chemical treatment methods were evaluated in laboratory scale. Raw wastewater used were synthesized, and AS, PAC, FS, FC as coagulants were used in this research. Water qualities parameter used here were BOD_(5), CODCr, SS, T-N, T-P, pH, alkalinity, and these were measured according to the Korean standard methods. Consequently, the efficiencies of jar tests with all coagulants on the removals of SS and phosphorus were more than about 90%, but efficiencies of them on the removals of BOD_(5), CODCr, T-N were relatively low. Generally, iron based coagulants rather than aluminium based coagulants has shown more effective on the organic matters removals. PAC as coagulants also has shown the best outstanding efficiencies in almost water quality parameters of treated wastewater.
