Title
A Study on Characteristics of the Upflow Biofiltration for the Pretreatment of Raw Water
강용태 Yong Tae Kang , 이혁준 Hyuck Jun Lee
Abstract
Raw water was contaminated not only such as BOD, SS, bacteria, inflow of wastewater from upstream of river but also existence of Fe, Mn in groundwater of river area. So upflow biofiltration for pretreatment of these raw waters was studied. In this study, removal characteristic of BOD, SS, DOC, coliform was analyzed on filtration velocity of 100m/day, 150m/day, 200m/day respectively. When the velocity of filtration was 150m/dayay and over 15℃ of water temperature effluent concentration of BOD, SS, coliform were satisfied with first grade quality of a source of water supply. Effluent concentration of Fe in upflow biofiltration was satisfied not only drinking water regulations of Korea but also drinking water regulations of Europe. Mn was satisfied with drinking water regulations of Korea.
