Abstract
To control rivers efficiently, it is needed to understand the hydrologic properties of a watershed. By using the Geographic Information System this study saves much time which it originally takes to abstract the spacial data of a valley. The problem that the efficiency and the dependence on the result are low is solved by DEM (Digital Elevation Model). Among the hydrologic simulation model, HEC-HMS (Hydrologic Modeling System) is used in the investigation of hydrograph an outlet according to the subdivision of a basin and the simple and complicated heavy rain phenomenon. This compares the relationship between a rainfall and an runoff of heavy rainfall phenomenon types according to the SCS unit and Clark unit. The subject of this investigation is the Tamjin basin. By applying the data of the observed rainfall and the amount of an outflow, it researches the relationship between a rainfall and an runoff based on types of a heavy rain phenomenon through optimization of a parameter in HEC-HMS. In the phenomenon of the simple and complicated heavy rain, the results are that the value of the Clark unit is more approximate to the observational value than the SCS unit and the hydrograph an outlet in the subdivision of a watershed has the slight difference compared with the one in the non-subdivision.
