Title
Sewage Treatment by Self - Granulated Activated Sludge
김광수Kwang Soo Kim,권아영A Young Kwaon,이경호Kyoung Hoo Lee
Abstract
A basic experiment was conducted to granulate the suspended activated sludge in the aerobic condition as a noble biological treatment process. It is expected that the slime of activated sludge could be self-granulated through the interparticle bridging without any help of supporting, media when contacted by slow mixing. The granulation of suspended activated sludge was achieved through (1) granulation, (2) appearance a of filamentous bacteria, (3) recombination, and (4) regranulation, where the regranulation was facilitated by filamentous bacteria. It was found that the specific respiration rate was three times higher and the specific denitrification rate was also higher in the sludge containing filamentous bacteria than in the suspended activated sludge.
