Title
Development of KOWACO Membrane Technology for Water Treatment
김충환Chung Hwan Kim,윤재흥Jae Heung Yoon
Abstract
Membrane technology including microfiltration(MF) and ultrafiltration(UF) have been recently applied to produce drinking water from river and lake. The conventional water treatment processes such as rapid sandfilter is difficulty in managing the chemical dosage, but membrane technology can be easy to operate and maintain with no chemicals requirement. The membrane technology in Korea is adaptable to the small drinking water facilities that face problems such as the contamination of water resource, the lack of technical experts, and the low effectiveness. However, membrane technology has not been actually applied to water treatment plant due to insufficient institution of law and the lack of technology. In this study, MF and UF membrane processes were operated to develop KOWACO membrane systems including pretreatment, monitoring system, disinfection. Also, the drafting guideline for design, operation & maintenance were made to apply membrane technology as a drinking water facilities.
