Abstract
A batch test and phosphorus release model were developed to evaluate biological phosphorus removal of the intermittent decant extended aeration process. Wastewater used in this study was estimated to be available for biological phosphorus release by using the batch test criteria. Specific release rate (SRR) for phosphorus was 0.031㎎-P/g-VSS·min in case of wastewater and it increased to 0.047㎎-P/g-VSS·min with acetic acid addition. As a result of the batch test, wastewater from Kwangdong-ri was applicable to a EBPR (enhanced biological phosphorus removal) process. Phosphorus release model could availably estimate concentration of effluent phosphorus using parameters from the batch test. However, it is difficult to predict accurately in case of large variation of influent concentration.
