Abstract
Recently, the pollution of the raw water is continuously increased with several unremoval materials such as organic matter, alkyl benzen sulfonate(ABS), trihalomethane(THM) and so on. Even though the water is purified through the water treatment system, the materials such as phosphorus, nitrogen as well as soluble organic matters, which cause the eutrophication, are hardly removed in the conventional water treatment. In this paper several experiments were conducted for obtaining the characteristics of the removal efficiency through the biofilm in the advanced water treatment system. Through the experiments three different biofilm media were compared for the removal efficiencies of BOD(Biochemical Oxygen Demand), TOC(Total Organic Carbon), T-N(Total Nitrogen), T-P(Total Phosphorus) and Turbidity(NTU). Even though the difference is not too big, Bio-C was selected as Che better media compared to Bio-Q and Bio-S. The removal efficiencies of the BOD, TOC, T-N, T-P and Turbidity by Bio-C are 45.5%, 23.0%, 19.4%, 46.1% and 23.8% respectively, in 1hr HRT.
