Abstract
A multi-stage rotating biological contactor process was evaluated by using the domestic wastewater. An emphasis was concentrated on the BOD and COD removal efficiency at each stage of the process with respect to hydraulic retention time(HRT), rotating speeds of the disc and influent organic concentration. The results indicated that the process was found to be economically feasible when operated at hydraulic retention time of 2 hours and disc rotating speed of 3 rpm(revolution per minute). BOD Removal efficiency of 35∼50 percent and COD removal efficiency of 20∼35 percent could be obtained at the first stage regardless of influent organic concentration. The over all BOD removal efficiency of the process was found to be 85∼94 percent at even high organic loading of 2.0 ㎏BOD/m3.day. COD Removal efficiency of the process was found to be 25∼47 percent. And rotating speed and electric power was could be correlated as follow ; Pw=0.9N²-0,224N+1.47.
