Abstract
To compare of characteristics of BAC on the removal of organic carbon and ammonia by difference of activated carbon materials, the pilot plant was experimented for coal base AC(activated carbon) and wood base AC using the sand filtered water. It was occupied about over one year. The operation conditions of ozonation were EBCT 15mim, 1.5㎎/ℓ concentration, and contact time 8min. As the determination method of the optimum ozone injection ratio, it was applied CT value which multiplies ozone injection rate, ozone injection concentration per contaminent, and ozone contact time, so CT value in maximum BDOC conversion ratio was 7∼9㎎/㎎·min and NBDOC converted BDOC component around 30%. In BDOC removal thermal coefficients(θ) were 1.035 at wood base AC and 1.06 at coal base AC respectively, and in nitrification 1.065 at wood base AC and 1.105 at coal base AC. In the result of the pilot-plant experiment, wood base AC is better than coal base AC for biodegradable ability and coal base AC is better than wood base AC for absorbability.
