Abstract
This study is performed, improving the efficiency of conventional water treatment plants through wide literature review, fields investigation and experiment. Based on the results of this study about each of water treatment processes, following contents are summarized. The optimization of coagulation and flocculation process in water treatment plant is necessary for the economical and efficient operation as well as steady water production. This study is performed, improving the efficiency of coagulation and flocculation process through experiment and field investigation. And, to present the optimum input location and method of water treatment chemicals, which can cope with the change in raw water quality, in conventional water treatment plants. The experiments for deciding the flow characteristics, identifying the effects for installing the baffles and obtaining the difference of the turbidity removal efficiencies by changing the ratio between the length and width of the sedimentation basin were conducted using the pilot plant. A study of improving filtration technology, the details of underdrain system, size distribution of dual media, direct filtration, primary filter are investigated. And, It is performed that the study on the proper chlorine dosage and the minimization of chlorinated by products formation in water treatment process.
