Title
Characteristics of Organic Matter Removal by Large MWCO Nano-membrane
김연Yeon Kim,최승일Suing Il Choi
Abstract
Nanofiltration is relatively new membrane technology whose separation characteristics have not been revealed enough. The nanofiltration is excellent for drinking water production because the rejection rate on the low molecular weight organic matters is higher than that of ultra filtration membrane. However the flux is a bit low for mass production of drinking water. In this study the nanomembrane at almost ultramembrane range was used to provide higher flux. The objectives of this study is to examine the organic matter rejection characteristics of nanomembrane whose MWCO is 5000 dalton. The result showed that the increase in flux per unit pressure was within 10% in the range from 2 atm to 6 atm. However the effect of pretreatment in the dead-end flow was significant in flux. The flux of the water filtered with 1 ㎛ filter paper was 1.19×10^(-4) ㎤/㎠·sec·atm whiIe that filtered with 0.2 ㎛ membrane paper was 5.5×10^(-4) -6.17×10^(-4) ㎤/㎠·sec·atm. The flux was declined by 1∼2% per hour. The rejection rate was differ based on the organic matter concentration in the influent. However the concentrations of organic matter in the permeate were relatively stable. The DOC in permeate was around 2 ㎎/L and UV_(254) was about 0.008.
