Hydraulic Analysis of Water Supply and Distribution System in Small Cities

Abstract
Water supply system in modern society is one of the most important urban infrastructures as a life line stippling necessary amount of treated water to meet living standard and proper operations of city organizations and urban facilities according to social development and economic growth. The purpose of this study is to analyze the water supply and distribution systems in small cities in Korea and to suggest the enhanced maintenance and the management methods of those facilities. The data from the city of Namwon was analyzed and following result are obtained. Leakage may has been occurred out of pipe network but, the area of high elevation has a little lack of water because the low pressure prevails in the distribution pipes. In order to secure the stabilized water supply to those area the distribution tank are required and the downtown area of the city having problems with water supply needs to adopt the concept of block type pipe network with profound research whereas the new developed area of the cities should utilized the concept of the blocked type pipe network from the beginning stage of development.
