Title
A Study on the Prediction of Treated Water Quality by GAC and BAC Process
정동찬Dong Chan Jung,강용태Yong Tae Kang
Abstract
The surface water resource being used as drinking water for Pusan has been contaminanted with volatile and synthetic organic chemicals, such as total organic carbon(TOC), total trihalomethane formation potential (TTHMFP), UV-254 aborbance (E-254), and so on. The objective of this study is to investigate the characteristics of granular activated carbon(GAC) and biological activated carbon(BAC) process on the reduction of TOC, THMFP, E-254, KMnO₄ consumption and to propose the formulas of predictive model of effluent quality by GAC and BAC process for EBCTs(5, 10 and 15 min). Also, the formulas applied for any EBCTs was proposed by means of using them For the predicted equations obtained from sequential experiment of GAC and BAC process for various EBCTs, based on the results compared the predicted equation calculations to the pilot-plant results, the corelationship for their values showed more than 95% for GAC and BAC. When applied the predicted equations to the other water treatment plant in Pusan, there were close corelationship about 86∼93% for GAC and BAC beds. These results indicate that the predicted equations of treated water quality proposed from this research is available in practice in designing and operating the GAC and the BAC process.
