Abstract
The paper presents the actual conditions of residual aluminium in drinking water and its countermeasure in relation to the introduction of new standard of residual aluminium in drinking water in 1995. The maximum permitted quantity of residual aluminium in drinking wafer is 0.2㎎·Al/ℓ in Korea, whereas the same guideline of drinking water in the United States is 0.05㎎·Al/ℓ. The American guideline of drinking water seems more reliable and safer than Korean standard. Therefore, the author believe that Korea government needs more strict standard of permitted quantity of residual aluminium in drinking water like USA. The study shows that the residual aluminium in drinking water is largely controlled by pH. Technologically speaking, the acheivement of 0.1㎎·Al/ℓ residual aluminium in drinking water standard is quite possible permitted quantity and the standard is using in Sweden.
