Abstract
In this paper, several coagulation and sedimentation parameters influencing turbidity removal efficiency were examined. Through literature review and the theoretical approaches for coagulation and sedimentation concepts, coagulant, rapid mixing time, rapid mixing intensity, slow mixing time and slow mixing intensity were chosen as the main coagulation parameters. For the coagulant, PAC and PACS are compared with a little better efficiency compare to the aluminium sulfate. Also, the slow mixing time and intensity were chosen as the more sensitive parameters compared to the rapid maxing time and intensity. The optimum ranges for the mating time and intensity are suggested for the raw water having low turbidity. In the sedimentation processes, the baffles and weir loading were selected as the major parameters for turbidity removal efficiency. The pilot plant was utilized for the sedimentation experiments The weir loading was indicated as a very sensitive parameter affecting turbidity removal efficiency in the sedimentation process. It is expected the operation efficiency in the plant to be improved using the result of this research.
