A Study on Wastewater Reuse System which combines FCS-Biofilm with RO Process

Abstract
Experimental study of Pilot-plant scale has been performed with FCS-Biofilm connected with RO(Reverse Osmosis) as wastewater treatment system for wastewater reuse. As the results of the performance of RO batch test, Cl^- ion, COD, NH₄-N and PO₄-P were over 99% in all cases of 20 bar, 30 bar and 40 bar. Especially, Cl^- level was shown with excellent removal efficiency of over 99%. It was sure that all the items had over 90% removal. 20 bar selected in RO batch test was adopted to continuous test. The results were very good as follow. COD : below 1㎎/ℓ, over 91% of removal, Ca : below 0.8㎎/ℓ, over 93% of removal, NH₄-N : 0.012㎎/ℓ, 99% of removal, PO₄-P : 0.025㎎/ℓ, 94% of removal. Especially, Cl^- level was 7.52㎎/ℓ and removal efficiency over 99%. This level of Cl^- satisfied industrial water guideline. Through the assessment of wastewater reuse, only the treatment of FCS-Biofilm system is applicable to toilet flushing or cleaning. Particularly, it is considered that FCS-Biofilm plus RO system is very effective on dyeing which need high water quality. Full scale test with long term is demanded for the study of membrane cleaning and economic analysis in real plant.
