Title
Advanced Sewage Treatment of Granular Activated Sludge Combined with Synthetic Membrane
김광수 Kwang Soo Kim
Abstract
In this studies, the Granular Activated Sludge(GAS) process, which changes the suspended solids of Activated Sludge(AS) into the flocculated solids through mechanical mixing and hydraulic vortex, was conducted with pilot plant scale to investigate its treated water quality, and to know the variation of trans membrane pressure(TMP) at different washing periods of synthetic membrane combined with GAS. For comparing of treated water quality and TMP between AS and GAS processes, AS process was operated in parallel with GAS process. In the experimental results of GAS process, the removal percentage of COD showed more than 90% similar to AS process. However, the removal efficiency of T-N and SS in GAS process showed a high performance than AS process, The reasons were considered the sludge blanket in GAS process to play a filter bed and the inner parts of GAS to keep anoxic condition biologically. In the experimental results of them combined synthetic membrane, the IMP value of membrane in GAS process was kept consistantly even though several times of membrane washing by water. The reasons for the invariable TMP of GAS process were considered the granular sludges produced from GAS process to be more bigger size than AS`s ones. But the more the membrane of AS process was washed, the higher the TMP value was increased due to pore blocking of membrane by fine suspended solids of AS.
