Abstract
The food waste has been occurring serious problems in korea. Though the capacities are getting smaller (0.34㎏/cap/day, 1995), the systems included landfill, incineration and reuse of treating food wasting were too restrict to satisfy. The Landfill system was occupied more over 90% than adjustment of other systems, but caused second problems which included a foul ordor and releasing wastewater. This study was aimed to treat food waste and evaluate possibility for the external carbon source by using SFFW(soluble fermented food waste) produced from the acid forming reactor. The system included stirring tanks, settling tanks, timers and pumps. This process was studied at different retention time (between 2 and 5) and the mesophilic(35±2℃) range of temperature. The reasonable retention time is 4 day for producing VFA(Volatile Fatty Acid) from food waste at acid forming reactor. The production rate is 207, 258 and 365g VFA/kg volatile solids. respectively. The removal efficiency of TN is better than that of methanols and similarly acetic acid in the denitrification experiment. The specific denitrification rate(g N0_3-N/g VSS·day) of SFFW, acetic acid and methanols was 0.78, 0.70, and 0.60, respectively.
