Abstract
Preliminary results on the degradation of ozone in water and atrazine solution in the presence of GAC or metaloxide/GAC were obtained for the development of catalysts in ozone related advanced oxidation processes. 500㎖ glass batch reactor with stirrer, and the aqueous ozone which was made from bubbling ozone to water in column were used in this experiment. In this study, self-decompositions of ozone in pure water and buffered water with phosphate ion (pH=7.3, C_(T,PO4)=1.15×10^(-2)M) were tested. And the degradations of ozone in water in the presence of GAC and Metaloxide(TiO₂, MnO₂)/GAC were examined. And to measure the degradations of ozone and atrazine in atrazine solutions, the concentrations of aqueous ozone were varied in ca. 3000㎍/ℓ of atrazine solutions, whilst concentrations of atrazine were also varied in almost constant concentrations of aquous ozone. Consequently, the degradations of ozone in water have been shown to be accelerated by GAC and Metaloxide(TiO₂, MnO₂)/GAC. They seem to be of great potent as a catalysts for the ozone related advanced oxidation processes in water and wastewater treatment.
